Yesterday, my 270x went kaput. Tried the BIOS switching and unplugging and replacing it. Windows still doesn't recognize it. Just goes to a black screen at login.

I put my old 7770 in and it booted up with 0 issues.

So, my question is... is there any repair I can do to the card itself to make it function again? I work in cell phone repair and have access to soldering equipment and microscopes.

I have no information as to whether it just overheated or if something else on the board failed. :(

Honestly, without schematics/board view (which are usually difficult to get), there's not a lot you can do. You can prod around with a multi-meter, but without a schematic you will have no idea what measurements you should be getting at...

You can prod around with a multi-meter, but without a schematic you will have no idea what measurements you should be getting at certain points so it's pointless. If you need to save for a new card, you could try the oven method to get you through the saving period, but be aware, it is not a fix and it will die again pretty soon if it does work.

Thats what I figured. Being a budget based gamer, sucks. Lol. I guess ill just need my 7770 to hold outhe until tax time, then I'm doing a Zen build anyway. So I'll see what's available in Feb/March.

I know the feeling, my GTX 670 died about a week outside of warranty a while back, to rub salt in the wound I found a dead surface mount fuse on it and thought I found the problem, but replaced it and it still didn't work.
