[Can a i7 6700K Twitch stream (really good quality) and play games at the same time? (single PC setup)]

This has been asked before, and I know that this CPU is fully capable of streaming a game and playing at the same time. My questions is can it stream WELL.

I see a lot of people on Twitch running dual PC setups, where one PC is dedicated to streaming, and they are using another PC strictly for gaming. This way the loads are separated and the streaming PC can just focus on streaming and nothing else. These streams look very very good, with basically zero quality loss.

My question is; can a single PC setup with a 6700K stream just as well with (basically) zero quality loss? Currently I have a laptop with a i7 4710HQ which I use as a dedicated streaming (laptop) PC, but that processor can't handle streaming well enough to get to the quality I am looking for. I was thinking of just selling my 2500K and upgrading to a 6700K but I don't have the money to build a separate PC outright (otherwise I'd play on the 2500K and stream on the 6700K).

Games I will be streaming are games like Battlefield 1, WoW, and other games alike. The reason I bring this up is that I hear games like WoW use a lot more CPU usage than other single players games or FPS games.

I think you understand what I am looking for at this point. Can the 6700K do it?

Yes it definitely can. I stream on my 4670k + 1070 and drop zero frames. It's also dependent on your GPU and internet connection but I assume you have a strong graphics card already if you plan on streaming those titles.

Do you have a link to your stream? You can send me a PM if you'd like to avoid any potential 'promoting' post issues.

Yeah I have a 1070 as well. When streaming do you have a crystal clear stream? I am basically wanting to avoid artifacts in the stream (those blocky moments when you move the camera around suddenly or enter a dark lit area). I also have a 10Mbps upload speed so am not worried about internet issues.

I'm at work currently and don't have any recordings on my work laptop, and don't have twitch set to save them. But I stream from 1440p, I think it scales down to whatever twitch allows (probably 720p) but no dropped frames or stutters. If you're still interested in seeing this evening I can PM you. But you'll definitely get performance you desire with those specs.

Ah very nice! Just curios, are you using OBS to stream? If you are, what preset are you using for x264? My laptop is only able to stream on the "faster" preset. Are you able to encode at fast or medium? Or maybe even lower?

Ah okay. Does this use the GPU to handle the encoding then? Or is it still using the CPU to encode?

All encoding job is done by the GPU. =)
