Windows 10 Causing Audio Issues With Games?

Hey guys,

I upgraded to Windows 10 from 7 a few months ago. I didn't have any issues with any of my games or anything until I got my new headset, which is a Siberia Series 150. After switching to these my games and some other programs have started to give me some really weird and unusual problems.

Whenever I try to open certain programs such as steam and many steam games, my audio either cuts out completely, cuts in and out and when the audio cuts my frame rate dips to below 10 FPS (regardless of what the game is), and if I'm in a skype call then I have to call it again because my audio from that just dies entirely.

I also notice the same thing happening when I unplug or plug in my Xbox 360 controller.

Another thing, the games where this issue happens the most is on Dark Souls, where it refuses to launch altogether now, Dark Souls III, where I get the non stop audio flickering and I can't play, and it seems to happen on any game that has controller support.

The only way I have been able to work around this is by using actual headphones that go through the audio jack, and not through USB. However, I'd rather enjoy listening to my games through my headset than some cheap $5 headphones.

If someone could help me fix this issue then I would be very grateful, as I have not been able to play some of my favorite games for about 2 months since this issue has popped up.

What model graphics card are you running? Pascal-based cards have been having similar issues for lots of users (me included), so I would not be surprised at all if you're using a 10xx series card. Windows Updates have definitely impacted the prevalence of the issue for me (older versions, better performance), but it's a problem that NVIDIA is looking into and should be fixing in their next drivers, if you are indeed using a Pascal-based card.

I am using an R9 270. Also, several uninstalls of the games and even deleting the game folders from the steam directory have done nothing to help me. I have tried just about everything I could think of and nothing is working. Like I said, the only thing that works is by using an audio device that goes through the audio jack, instead of using a USB.

I assume you've tried different USBs and updated USB drivers? Are you using a USB on the case or on the motherboard? Have you tried both? Have you tried uninstall your AMD drivers and reinstalling them? Use a tool like Display Driver Uninstaller to make sure everything is gone if you try that.

I have tried multiple USB's including my case and motherboard, none of them fix the issue. I have disabled all the audio devices in my recording/playback devices except my mic and headset, nothing. I haven't tried uninstalling my display driver but I have gone through several updates with it. I never had the issue with previous drivers though and it only showed up after I started using the new headset.
