Hello all,

Every once in a while I have to take my pc apart and clean all the dust out of it because it gets super hot on the inside clogged with dust. Yesterday I did my routine cleaning and put the computer back together. This time though, the Monitor says 'no signal' and the USB ports are not receiving any power at all.

The PSU is brand new and I've only had it a few months, I took the CMOS battery out, did the 1 minute power button trick, etc. The ram cards seem to be fine, re-seated the CPU and the Video card, checked the wires to make sure everything was plugged in correctly and secured and even booted computer up with bare minimal plugged in.

My build has never beeped during start up, it's always been a quiet build. The light on the motherboard is lit green, the fans and power cut on, and the MemOk button is off unless I press the button in which it will blink once every other second or so.

I'm assuming I'm going to have to replace the processor or the mobo but before I go to buy one I wanted to try and pinpoint which one needs replacing before shelling out the cash..

Update: Just to be safe, I went ahead and returned the PSU to see if maybe it wasn't giving enough juice, even though it's new it could have possibly been faulty...?

Thanks :)

Start with a new psu. I'd not trust a Sentey unit to be good for a paperweight. Any respectable 520w - 620w will do the job just fine. The problem with many of those uber cheap psus is they say 725w, but reality is they don't put out rated wattage at all, especially in a pc that's warmer than the 20°C they test those units at. It's not hard to tell Sentey is just making up numbers, they advertise 48A on 12v, but also say combined wattage of 12v1+12v2 = 528w, which = 44A. I'd be surprised if the internals will handle a 450w load before crashing, which is lower than you'll need for any system running a gtx560.

Please post your PC specs, including the new power supply; sometimes that information gives forum members an idea where to start looking / trouble shooting !!
Re-check your power leads/connections to the video card and make sure they are plugged in properly (I know you said you reseated it and I am sure you checked it).
Also, if you took the PC apart to clean it, check to be sure something wasn't left under the mobo, and that all the stand-offs under the mobo are there and that nothing is touching the back of the mobo - especially something that might cause a short.
Another suggestion, pull out the mobo, place it on a non-conductive surface (a cardboard box works well) and see if it will boot up outside the case; try first with the video card and all the ram in place, but no hard drive (you should get to the BIOS screen. If it won't boot; try pulling all the RAM, then insert one stick in one of the primary slots and see if it boots.
You should be able to find tutorials here on Tom's regarding breadboarding etc. Here's one of the better ones:

UPDATE; One thing I forgot and that I have had happen to me --- did you mount the video card in the correct PCIEx slot?

Thanks for the response, I'll be sure to try booting it that way. I already tried booting it with no memory and 1 memory, etc. and of course since it doesn't beep that didn't work either. I'll get some cardboard or something and try booting it out of the case. I'm waiting for the new PSU to get here, I had to send in the old one.

Sentey XPP725-HS Xplus Power Supply 725w Pc Computer ATX Desktop Power Supply
Asus M5A97 MOBO with a GeForce GTX 560 video card.

Also, yes I mounted the Video card back into the one it was before that I've been using it in for ages now :) I did also try to mount it in the second slot to see if that changed anything but it didn't work either.

Update: I've tried a new motherboard and that was a no-go.. so the next thing I'm trying is a new CPU. For anyone who may have the same issues as me.. at least you have me to show as a trial and error.
