Hello guys this is my furst post here so please be kind :p. Anyway i just bought a new msi gtx1060 and installed following the manual. When i booted my pc i realised that none of the two fans are spinning despite the fact that i get signal in my monitor. All the fancy led and logos light up in my card so it makes it even weirder. In addition when i tied to check the status of my card via TechPowerUp GPU i get "standard vga adapter" as my card name instead of gtx 1060. Any kind of help is appreciated.

Specs:
Cpu: fx 6350
Motherboard: msi am3+ 970A-G43
Psu: corsair cx850m

Did you make sure to plug your power connector into the graphics card? It's most likely going to be a 6 or 8 pin slot on the top of the card. Even if two pins aren't plugged into, the card wont work properly.

It's a fairly common mistake on first builds.

NVIDIA cards (Maxwell and Pascal) fans don't spin until it hits 60-65C, which you won't do unless you're gaming or something else similarly intensive. You can install MSI Afterburner or EVGA PrecisionX to manually set the fans to spin at a preferred temperature and at what speed as well as monitor if they are spinning or not.

The AMD FX CPUs don't have integrated graphics so if he is seeing a picture on his monitor it means the GPU is working. The answer earlier saying that the fans weren't spinning because the temps were low is probably the correct answer.

I am pretty sure i connected all the 6+2 pins that are needed :\
I did but i used msi Afterburner and i still get the "standard vga adapter "which means i my card is most likely not detected :(

I imagined so but i should still be able to manually set them from msi afterburner right?
Nothing will show up there thouh i used the afterburner with my other card but all the options are grey now.

Same thing happened with my new RX 460, MSI Afterburner detected the GPU but I just couldn't do anything. It could have to do with these cards being new still, but I don't know.

Not sure why you would want the fans running when idle anyway, I'd rather have the computer be extra silent.

I can understand why the card fans wouldnt work when idle... What really bothers me is the fact that it is desplayed as " standard vga adapter" and not as gtx 1060 and all the options to controll it via the afterburner are grayed out.

I will try re installing the drivers maybe somthing went wrong the first time
