So here's the deal: I've decide to get the RX 480 Asus Strix version for my gaming system if the price is not much more than $260 like the rumors have been saying. I'm wondering if I can run the rx 480 with a rx 470 or a rx 480 with a rx 460. This is mainly out of curiosity but you never know, it could come in handy. Thanks in advance.

Not if your planning to do a cross fire setup Jon.

Like with the older range of Ati cards in order to run cross fire both cards have to be the same in specification.
In relation to how much memory the cards have on board to the actual gpu chip used on the cards.

Both have to be in one of the model ranges 2 x RX 480, or 2 x RX 470 or 2 x RX460 cards Jon.

Mixing two model versions, will result in them not cross firing at all Jon I`m sorry to say.

Crossfire is when you hook up that little wire thing that connects them right? If that's what crossfire is than what would happened if you just put 2 different gpus (both AMD) in 2 different slots and than ran it that way without the crossfire wire?
