what graphics card can I upgrade to from a GeForce 740 that's the same size as the 740. ps. I need it to be vr ready

The only card that comes to mind right now size wise is the GTX 970 mini (or its counter part from the red team, the R9 Nano), but I can't tell whether they are capable of handling VR.

The most obvious choices would be any 480 or 1060, both cards claim to be VR ready but of of course these are the weakest ones to claim this. your CPU is important as well which you didnt state

With an i5-4460, you'll be able to get away with a 1070 without bottlenecks if you're performing at 1080p. I'd suggest either an EVGA or ASUS brand of this card.

As well, you need at least a 500w PSU.

I don't know if it will fit in your PC, you haven't exactly given any case dimensions. I don't know if you have a mini, mid, full, or anything.

Then no, that card won't fit, It's almost 12".
Even an R9 Nano from AMD won't fit, it's a bit over 6".

I did some additional digging, there are no current GPUs that can be purchased that are under 6". Are you sure you measured right?
