Help creating RAID 0

After looking into it, RAID 0 seems as if it is the best way to go for me. I have an ASUS Z87-PRO (V EDITION) Motherboard with ASUS UEFI BIOS and I am wondering what steps need to be taken in order to correctly set up RAID 0. I currently have a System Image of Windows 10 backed up to an external hard drive, but I am not sure how to move forward in creating this RAID setup. Questions such as if I need to wipe out the hard drive myself; whether it is automatically wiped creating RAID 0; or if my System Image will restore correctly onto this setup prevent me from moving forward.

Thank you,
B.

No need to wipe, if you turn 2 or more disks in raid 0, everything that was stored there gets lost. Bear in mind you are significantly increasing likehood of data lose while only thing that gets faster in work with larger data blocks (small random blocks won't get any faster neither latency will decrease).

Why do you think that raid 0 is the best way for you? There are very very few use cases where raid0 is a good idea. The fact that you don't know how to implement it makes me wonder if you know the implications. I'm trying to save you from a 'how do i fix a broken raid0 post'.

I believe it is best because I am an avid gamer on my computer and I think the increased speeds would be worth it. I understand I can go to the BIOS and turn on RAID0, but I was not sure if that alone would allow the computer to work and if Windows would still work correctly; or whether I'd need to insert the OS disk again. Being I have a System Image on my external, either or both of the drives breaking I would be able to restore them by replacing the broken drive. It has been a few years since I built this computer so the OS disk I have is Windows 8, and reinstalling that and re-upgrading to Windows 10 would make it most likely not worth going through the hassle.

First of all, you would not be able to upgrade to Windows 10 anyways because that has been removed. Second of all, you do understand that RAID0 will merge both HDD together so that if one breaks, both do? If you are ready for that, go ahead. I personally would not risk it and just get an SSD, but I can see why RAID0 is appealing with so much space.

A little clarification, if one disk dies, only one disk dies, but the data on both are lost. But other than that, I agree. Get SSD, even cheapo one will make circles around your raid 0 and still yawn.
