[SOLVED] I keep having to reset printing system

I have an HP Photosmart 5520 which keeps appearing offline to OSX so I have to reset the printing system and add it back in. Could the fact that my laptop's up time is 14 days now have anything to do with it (I found it starts to get buggy the longer it's on)

It's a Retina MacBook Pro 2014 version with OSX 10.11.6

Is the printer connected directly to the computer or is it connected wirelessly? Have you tried shutting down and restarting since you say it has been running for fourteen consecutive days?

I could try a reboot. It's a wirelessly connected printer. It's used by two Windows machines and my Mac
