RAM: 1st and 2cnd Channel

Dell 9010: 4-RAM-slots in order: Next to CPU, #3, blk-clips - #1, wht-clips - #2, blk-clips - #4, wht-clips.

Which RAM-slots are the 1st channel and 2cnd channel. Using only 2-RAM-slots, where to install 2x 8gb RAM.

The first channel is #1 & #3. The second is #2 & #4. Memory slots on older motherboards were in numerical order (1,2,3,4) and weren't color coded but you still use #1 & #3, #2 & #4. You can use either channel

Aren't we supposed to be using dual-channel mode with either a 2 or 4 RAM set. Why are you saying to use only one channel ...
