PCIe3 graphics card work on my Asus Crosshair V formula mother board

If not you wasted $200 on a motherboard. Without knowing what "my" card is exactly or what power supply you have, the card being PCIe 3 will not keep it from working on the Asus Crosshair V.

The MB is from 2012 Asus Crosshair V. Not the current(Z) model. I have an Antec 850Watt power supply, AMD Phenomenon 2 model 1055 processor, 16 gig of Corsair Vengeance Ram. The Video card I have is a MSI Radeon RX 470 8gig. will the video car work?

Yes the RX 470 will work fine in that system. Check for a BIOS update before you put in the new video card though.
