I'm wanting to stick another 970 in my budget xeon build, but there's no mention of SLI support anywhere in the mo-bo's manual.

My 970's currently in PCIE 5 slot, ideally I want cards in the 5 and 2 slots so there's a good air gap between them, but I read something about a performance drop if you have cards on different PCIE root complexes.

I think 5 and 2 use different CPU's , does anyone know if this root complex rule applies...or even if I can run 2 cards on this board ? I've attached images from the manual, if I'm reading it right I have to use slots 4 and 2.

Machine is used mainly for 3ds Max / Vray and rendering.

Is anyone running this board in SLI without issue ?

SLI is not supported on that board. AMD Crossfire might work though but you would need new cards (duh).

The issue with SLI is they actually have to pay Nvidia for a license for it to work and put some sort of coding into the chipset to allow it. Its rare that SLI is supported on boards like this because they aren't often used for gaming setups and a lot of rendering software does not need the cards to be in SLI.
