Which CPU temperature reading should I trust?

I'm quite paranoid about my CPU temperature and have been for awhile. I've got a AMD A8 6600K and I was mainly using a program called CLICKBIOSII to check the CPU temp but I switched to SpeedFan even though it gave me the same CPU temp. I got a bit paranoid after seeing that my CPU was at 74C while playing a game somehow and I've also noticed that SpeedFan has been showing quite high temperatures of up to 65C while I'm basically just browsing the internet.

I found some people who claimed that SpeedFan was inaccurate a lot of the time and I should use a program like CoreTemp but I'm not exactly sure about it's readings considering it drops to almost 30C sometimes and stays around 47C and I don't think I have a great cooling system. Some people also recommended HWMonitor which gives me the same readings as SpeedFan.

I also tried a recommend program called AMD Overdrive which shows Thermal Margin and that gives me quite reasonable temperatures... I think at least but I'm just not sure which one to believe. Normally my CPU temperature is at a reasonable temp but not today for unknown reasons.

Solution
start with the bios temp read. if just stitting there it in the 20c your fine. if it reading 50c sitting in the bios the cooler not on right or there an issue. on cpu temp programs some of them have a min/max and the temp as it now. make sure your reading the right temp. apu will run slightly hotter then a normal cpu as it has built in gpu. if your using another gpu for video make sure the onboard gpu is turned off to keep the gpu cool.

In addition to this (which you absolutely should do, your temps in the BIOS will be accurate), HWMonitor and OpenHardwareMonitor are proven to be accurate with temperatures.

I'll keep using SpeedFan as it seems to read the same temp as HWMonitor and the CLICKBIOSII program I had before I uninstalled it. Would you happen to know my CPU's maximum operating temperature or a way to find it out?
