Hi All,

The link below takes you to a short recording of the sound my WD Blues make whilst idling.I switch the recording between the two hdds after the two taps.

I have two 1TB WD Caviar Blues, obviously the sound is a lot louder on the recording due to my phone being so close to the HDDS.
They seems very loud though and reading online people say that their WD blues are quiet. Is this just the normal noise for HDDS?

Thanks,
Alex

Hi there SpoonyDrip,

Sorry that you are facing some issues with your WD drives. :(

If you think that there is something wrong with any of your drive, you better back up the data stored on it until you sort this out. :)

So, the first drive makes a buzzing sound right?( don't hear that one while the second one is reading/writing)

Anyway, I believe you can just test both your drives with WD's Data Lifeguard Diagnostic (both short and extended tests) tool and see what or whether there is wrong with them: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=c52J26

Are the drives under warranty?

Let me know how this goes,
D_Know_WD :)
