Hi People, I have an Alienware 17 R2, and I am willing to disassemble the laptop and use the components to put inside of a pc case, I just wanted to know if it is possible, Thanks if you need my specs i will list them
I just find it really annoying using my Alienware as a laptop and my screen and keyboard in it is broken so I basically just plug it into a keyboard and a mouse and hook it up to a monitor so I would like it to have a nicer appearance and make it into a desktop PC
I don't really have the money because I'm 14 and my parents wouldn't pay that for me so yea I just wanted to make sure that it's possible to for the components and make it like a desktop
Just like g-unit said, it isn't able to be done. One simple example is the CPU that is in it. The GTX 980M is specifically made for laptop use. In addition, a lot of other pieces are made specifically with laptop purposes in mind such as the RAM and the CPU. Remember that laptop pieces are made to be as slim as possible, even if it compromises performance.

Not just that, laptop CPUs and GPUs are made for low power consumption. They'd fry if hooked up to a desktop power supply.
