Yes I know there's emulators but I'm wanting to build a emulator pc but boot different game system OS's from a bootable flashdrive or windows. Pretty much I'm wondering if I can get a pc running that can run games from NES to PS2 but is there a way to extract the OS from the system or make a copy of it? Sure I don't mind running things from roms to actual discs. Or is there a "Homebrew channel" kind of thing where I can download and launch roms from it or have a emulator read a disc and run it in possibly multiple formats? Also I don't really know the best place to post this so sorry if this is the wrong place. Thanks

Ok, I think I get what you want. You want an OS or a program (preferably one you can set to run at boot) with a nice interface that will let you browse though your multi-system library of ROMs, select one, and run it.

There is probably some kind of program like that out there. I know there are multiple machine emulators out there, and some probably have a fancy front end that will suit your needs.

Off the top of my head, I think Kodi has a few plug-ins for adding ROMs to it's media library and launching an emulator...

I have no idea what you're asking here. It sound like you want to know if you can run a console system OS as the OS on your PC? Is that what you're asking?

Because if that's what you're asking, then the answer is no. The architectural differences between your PC and whatever console you're emulating are too different for code compiled natively for one machine to run on the other. That's why you need an emulator in the first place. Emulators are basically just virtual machines that pretend to be a console (or whatever you're emulating) so that code written for that console can run on your PC.

Game consoles have a whole different kind of cpu so you cannot run the os on any kind of pc. There are emulators for both the NES and PS2 but they cannot run off the disk. You will need an iso of the disk for the emulator.

Wait I just got an idea. Do they have a everything emulator as a OS? That would be amazing.

Now what would be nice if if when u boot up u get a selection screen of what emulator u want then select what rom u want.

Off the top of my head, I think Kodi has a few plug-ins for adding ROMs to it's media library and launching an emulator to play them if you select one. Kodi even has it's own Ubuntu variant, called Kodibuntu, that basically just boots Linux straight into Kodi. That's not going to be easy to set up though, and there are probably better more ROM specific programs out there, but I'm not really familiar with any.

Try taking a look at MESS or RetroArch and their frontends. That might be a good place for you to start.
