Hi there,

Spec:
i7-6850K,
Asus Strix X99 Gaming,
Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 2400MHz

I just finished my build and after the first boot I found that the system only recognized two RAM sticks out of four. I updated the BIOS and started to test the RAM one by one on slot B2 on the board. It turned out that the system could correctly recognize two of them, and when i put in the other two the system would not boot up and the error code (Q code) on my mobo showed 53, which, according to the manual was for RAM issues.

Does this mean those two RAM are defective? If so I would go thru the RMA again :(

Manys thanks!

Seems like they are defective from reading your post . Just replace them , usually rams have lifetime warranty
;)

It could be a motherboard problem. First, check the motherboard manual to determine which slots to use for only four sticks. If you still have the problem, try two sticks at a time in the same slots. If all four work but only two at a time it's a motherboard problem.

Yeah that's exactly what i did. I was using A1,B1,C1,D1 as instructed by the manual, then the system would only recognize the sticks in B1 and C1. I unplugged all four and started testing them one by one in slot B2. Two of them worked and the other two not (cant even boot up to the BIOS page)

TIME FOR RMA AGAIN....fml :(

The manual shows a single stick installation should use DIMM_D1 on page 1-5. So you should use that for testing the single sticks just to be sure.
