Upgrading CPU & GPU. What Do I Do With Drivers?

I want to replace the CPU in my computer from an I5 4460 to an I7 4790k, and replace the GPU from a GTX 960 to a 1070. I have never changed important parts like these. Am I supposed to uninstall the drivers for the original parts and start over? I've seen other threads give conflicting answers. Some people recommended using DDU, while others said not to use that program.

Some users also said you don't have to upgrade your CPU drivers. But how can this be if Intel has drivers for each product? Also, are you supposed to regularly update your CPU drivers like you do with GPU drivers?

As I said, I have never changed components in a system, and I am just asking in advance so I can get an optimal computer experience.

Thanks.

You're CPU shouldn't need anything changed regarding drivers. It should be detected and show up in device manager as the new CPU once Windows loads. I've already done this a few times with some Dell OEM desktops. Just shut them down, swap CPU(make sure BIOS is up to date or supports the new CPU before installing), and turn back on. That should be it. Also, it's likely that your current GTX 960 uses the same drivers as the 1070. I'd double check on Nvidia's site to be sure. Since your not changing GPU brands (Nvidia to AMD or vice versa), there is no need for using DDU or other GPU "cleaners" to remove old drivers.

EDIT: Just checked Nvidia's site. If you get the latest Nvidia drivers, they support both your 960 and new 1070.

There are no differences to the OS between an i5 and an i7 as long as you aren't changing the motherboard. Even a GPU change from a 960 to a 1070 should be trivial. Having the latest NVIDIA driver loaded on the 960 before you swap should allow that driver to support the 1070.

Um im sure CPU's don't have drivers but you might have to update the Bios and the 1070 drivers you can get from nvidia but i've seen problems with 1070's going into builds being upgraded but hey doesn't hurt to try! Hope every goes buttery smooth!

Do you recommend Uninstalling Nvidia Control Panel and Geforce Experiance, or just the latter? I also have MSI Afterburner detecting the 960. Can you just modify that without Uninstaller it?

I'm looking at my uninstaller list and I see multiple Nvidia drivers listed. Will uninstalling those lead to uninstaling Nvidia Control Panel? Some other users claim that you will not have to update drivers at all if they are from the same GPU maker.
