Hello, i currently have the following rig:
ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VII FORMULA LGA1150 DDR3 M.2 ACWiFi USB 3.0 Intel Z97 ATX Motherboard
16GB Corsair Vengeance RED DDR3 MEMORY
Intel i7 4790K CPU
EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 P2 80PLUS Platinum Certified ATX12V/EPS12V Active PFC 1000W Power Supply (220-P2-1000-XR)
3 x Samsung 840 PRO 1TB HDDs
2 x Intel SSDs
1 x Dell Ultrasharp 3440x1440 31" Monitor
1 x Asus 2550x1440 27" PB278Q Monitor
2 x Nvidia Geforce GTX 980 in SLI Mode
Now, i just bought 2 x GTX 1080 Founders edition GPUs and will be using them in SLI mode via the Nvidia SLI HB Bridge. I was really pondering on if i need a better CPU for gaming or if the 4790K is good enough? One thing to consider is i dont want to upgrade my motherboard just yet but i do believe this board supports 5th gen processors. In light of that info, please advise if i really need to step up from the 4790K or will it not make much of a difference?
Thanks in advance to the community!
