Hi, just a question about ram. Currently running an i5 3570k and a gtx 950. I use my pc for gaming and I'm looking at buying a gpu from the gtx 10 series near Christmas. The motherboard I have is a p8z77-v lx and I have 16gb of ddr3 ram at 1333mhz. I was looking at buying the same amount of ddr3 ram but at 2400mhz. I've read some games would benefit from this increase in ram speed. Would this be a worthwhile upgrade considering my current setup and my future gpu upgrade?

Thanks

The sweet spot for Ivy Bridge and Haswell were 1600 but there are folks who have gone to 1866MHz and 2133MHz without issues. The issue you'll face is from the IMC on your processor which may or may not allow you to go to those speeds. In real world scenario's due to your platform you're going to see better speeds with DDR3 1600MHz rams. Also to note, given today's prices of DDR3 2133MHz and 2400MHz ram kits, you're best option is to buy them and see if they system takes you to 2133MHz(my suggested maximum as you'll put too much stress on the integrated memory controller) and if they fail you cna revert to DDR3 1600MHz without any loss of capacity.

On another note, try and get a kit, i.e 4x4 or 4x8GB kit as opposed to adding more ram to your system in tandem with your old ram kit.
