Hi,

Hoping you're doing good and this is my first thread. I'm a freelancer. I do lot's of motion graphics designing and video editing. No gaming. I always take an output render at 720p and 1080p. For Software I use After effects. Please let me know which one should I choose ( i7 4790k or i7 6700k ). I'm sure that i7 6700k is an newest processor.

My current system have 4x2gb DDR3 ram. My thought is i7 4790k is a good processor for my usage. If I want to go with i7 6700k I need to purchase DDR4 ram and motherboard that cost more. I really don't want to spend more money. Is there any big different If I choose i7 4790k instead of i7 6700k. Also maybe I can upgrade my processor after 2-3 years.

Thanks for answer.

Obviously, i7 6700k... But as you told that you dont have Gaming in mind, better not spend more money on anything else... You must move on with i7 4790k. Even i7 Second generation can handle that 1080p easily....
My suggestions are with i7 4790k!!!

I'm having 2x4 ddr3 ram and I'm planning to purchase additional 2x8 ddr3 ram. Do you think it's enough for my usage ?

I dont know your usage , but 24GB are enough for FHD ...

If you're going to buy RAM anyway, get the 6700K. It's a little faster, but more importantly, it's on a socket that will receive 2 more generations of CPUs, whereas 1150 is already discontinued and will receive no more CPUs. Also, DDR3 prices are rising, while DDR4 is falling. If you want more RAM in a year or two, it's going to cost you more with the 4790K. Lastly, if for whatever reason you need a new motherboard, socket 1151 will likely have new boards being released for it for at least 2 more years, while most 1150 boards are already out of production, and so prices will be rising on them as stock dwindles.
