Hey, so I bought an ssd and I am just wondering if I can put windows onto my ssd off my hdd without losing all my games, files etc on my hdd. Does it still automatically use the same code too? Thanks
Possibly a read error from your source drive? http://support.macrium.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5698

OK....questions:
1. What SSD is this? Size, make, model?
2. How much total used space is on your existing C drive or partition?
3. How much of that is doc/music/funny cat videos/Steam games?
what type of SSD? Samsung comes with or will link you to a cloning application for that purpose. most manufacturers also offer similar software. try searching on this drives specific website first.
you can also find other 3rd party software that does the same thing. if your new drive has enough space to accommodate the cloning procedure they will add boot sector info and create the proper Windows partitions, then transfer all of your data to the new drive.
if you're keeping the HD and the SSD you may want to keep all of your media files on the existing HD and just move Windows and programs to the SSD. that may prove a bit more complicated but it is not very difficult really.
The 250gb of space is filled with games, files etc. I am planning on uninstalling everything that I dont really need to clone. I am just going to put windows and GTA V and avast through the clone.

If you can get the actual used space to below 90GB or so, cloning to this new drive is an option.
That is the total used space on the C drive.
What is actually taking up that space? WinDirStat can help visualize what exactly is taking up that space.
