Hello! Some time ago when i turned on my PC, a game launcher started (was set to autostart) and started downloading updates for a game - that's okay. Then the launcher crashed and i noticed my HDD was gone from "My Computer" (Win 7 Home Prem 64 bit). I rebooted and the HDD was back up. The situation repeated after about a week, from then it got more frequent until a couple days ago it stated shutting down in the middle of the "Starting Windows" screen, and at the same time the "Starting Windows" screen now stays for about 20 seconds before showing me the log in screen. The OS is installed on an SSD (Crucial MX). I have no idea what could it be. The HDD died? PSU?

P.S. From what i noticed the disk usually turned off when working (writing/reading data)

Specs:
PSU: Aerocool KCAS-600
Mobo: MSI B150 PC Mate
CPU: Intel Core i5-6500 (not overclocked, stock cooler)
GPU: MSI GTX 970 GAMING 4G
HDD: Seagate 1TB (can't tell the exact model)
SSD: Crucial MX200 250GB
+ additional exhaust cooler

I need QUICK help, please! If you have any questions just ask them here.

Hello,

Firstly, have you tried booting up another PC from your HDD? If it works, then it's not your HDD?

Secondly, in my experience, allowing your computer to auto update game files, is always hit and miss unless it is from the original website which should be safe. However the auto update system sometimes only updates files matching the name of your game, but not always the correct version for your Operating System. E.g. if your computer uses the 64-bit version of Windows, you CANNOT install the 32-bit version, otherwise the game will crash when you try load it, because of incompatibility issues. One of the updated files could have installed a virus on your PC, which you would not have discovered until later.

My advice in future...

Update: Today i turned the PC on and the HDD didn't turn off. However after i tried to move some files from the HDD to my SSD it turned off again.

I made screenshots of S.M.A.R.T. so if you need it just say.

My advice in future is to have auto game update turned off and make sure that the updates you download are for your specific version of Windows,
