WD 2TB External Drive Suddenly Shows as RAW

My WD external hard drive for some reason is suddenly showing as RAW when plugged into my PC. It started last night. I tried using other USB ports and the same things happens. It will recognize the drive is there and label it. It just won't read anything on it. An error message pops up letting me know that it can read the drive.

The drive doesn't appear to be broken as it still works fine when plugged into my Vizo TV's USB port as well as my laptop.

I have rebooted my PC and replugged the drive into the USB port.
I have checked to make sure that all my windows updates are current.

I have read countless stories from others on this here about having similar issues but none of them I have read have mentioned if the external drive still works on other PC's. Mine does. This leads me to believe that the issue has more to do with my PC than the actual external drive.

Any suggestions on what could be the cause of this? I don't understand how it can work on two other computers and a TV but suddenly stop working on my relatively new PC.

Thanks.

Welcome to the TH Community, @AbulletAway!

You've done a pretty good job so far with the troubleshooting! I'd recommend you backup the data from the external on another computer then just to be safe and have a copy of it elsewhere. Afterwards, check the USB hub controller drivers on your computer and make sure you have installed the latest ones from the motherboard/computer manufacturer's official website. Another thing that might work for you is uninstalling & reinstalling the external WD drive as a device from Device Manager.

Hope this works. Keep me posted with the troubleshooting!
