Complex RAM issue, only half of my memory detected

I have setup my system again using W10.
Other than changing HDs I haven't made any changes and now I have the following issue:

The computer wont (always) start. It makes a ticking noise. I checked for the HDs to be the source, the fans, etc, the noise is not coming from theses sources.
If I pull out my RAMs though, and install them again, it all works fine, the system will start up. However, after startup it only shows a limited amount of RAM.

I am using G.Skill Ripjaws F3-10666CL7D-4GBRH on a Gigabyte Mainboard GA-Z97X-UD3H-BK which I have installed in the 2 appropriate slots. I have swapped around the memory modules, so I can verify that all modules are detected, however, only at half of their capacity (they are 2x2GB, each gets detected with 2GB).

I have also tried some other RAM that I have here (Adata PC3-12800, 4GB. If using these the full capacity will show (2x2GB = 8GB). Initially - before installing Windows 10 - I used both memories, the ripjaws and the adata together (a total of 4 modules, 4Gb each) and all worked fine for over a year.

I am using a OCZ500MXSP 500W power supply. Additionally, I have 2 Seagate Barracuda 1Tb HDs and an Adata SATA drive for the system installed. My graphics adapter is aAMD Radeon R9 380 series 8pulling 190W to my knowledge).

Any help or ideas are much appreciated!!
