I have recently invested my money in building a gaming pc. Inspired by a youtuber I put together this pc.

I put everything together and fired it up. It starts working then the screen goes black. I try many times to reboot it sometimes it works then goes black a couple seconds later. I take the gpu out and boot without it. It works perfectly, I am able to install windows 10. I installed my mother board drivers and decided to turn it off and put the gpu back in. It works for a couple minutes and then the screen flickers again. I think it may be the psu so I buy a bigger 600watt power supply. I fire it up with the new psu and it works for a day and the next day i turn it back on its unusable it flickers non stop. It makes the windows sound as if the display is connecting and disconnecting. I tried using a new cord as well and the problem continues. What is the problem with my pc?

If the motherboard has on board graphics ports on it.

First of all go into the bios of the motherboard when you first power it up.

Once in the bios options and menus.
Click on the advanced mode for the bios.

Look for the options to do with the graphics display used.
For the first graphics device to initialise first of all set the interface mode to Pci-e.
Also look for and option to disable Igpfx if the bios of the motherboard has it.

Save the changes you made before you exit the bios Doug.
Let windows boot, I presume it is windows 10.

For the Pci-e graphics card you fitted to the motherboard, you should of installed the driver from the provided dvd disk that came with the graphics card.

Or downloaded the latest video driver for your card from either the Nvidia, or Amd support site.

Windows 10 when it set it`s self up would of also installed the video driver for the Intel based graphics card found on the motherboard the IGPFX.

Got to add remove software, and remove the Intel video driver from windows 10 Doug.
Restart the system and see if the problem of the monitor going black has been fixed.

A 500 w power supply unit is the minimum required to run a R9 380 X Ati card.
But you should really opt for a higher rated power supply in Watts to avoid any power problems.

Make sure that as well as the main 24 pin Atx power block from the Psu to the motherboard.
That you have connected the 12v E-atx or 12v Eps connector on the Psu to the motherboard also.
And that any power the R9 380x card requires is connected via the Psu`s 12v Pci-e power connectors provided.

I'll keep this thread alive and post back when I have tried doing the changes. I will have to purchase a new gpu first as I sent it back. :)
