I have a system with a AMD 6300 and want to buy a rx 480 or gtx 1060. I know that the processor is going to bottleneck the GPU. I am looking at a i5-6600K @ 3.50GHz but do not know if that will help. The 6300 and i5-6600K @ 3.50GHz are running at about the same clock speeds and MY AMD has more cores but everything I have read says it will bottleneck the card but the I5 will not. I do not understand how this works could someone explain why the I5 is a better choice with less cores and running at about the same clock speeds.

Another question is the I5 6600k really even good to match with the AMD RX 480 or GTX 1060?

Solution
Oh the i5-6600k will perform WAYY better. It blows the AMD chip out of the water. I personally have a GTX 1060 with a i5-6600k OCed to 4.1ghz and its great!
