I built a new computer a few years back to play games such as WOW and Crysis but, was told time and time again that Intel is the way to go for better FPS and graphics. This is what I built at that time, the GPU and PSU are new as of this year:

1. ASUS Sabertooth 900fx R2.0
2. AMD FX-8350 CPU (not overclocked)
3. KINGSTON HYPER X 16GB / HX318C10FBK2/16 / 16GB (8GB 1G x 64-Bit x 2 pcs.) DDR3-1866 CL10 240-Pin DIMM Kit :
DDR3-1866 CL10-11-10 @1.5V
DDR3-1600 CL9-10-9 @1.5V
DDR3-1333 CL8-9-8 @1.5V
4. Corsair H100i CPU cooler
5. MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming 4G Graphics Card (not overclocked)
6. Samsung 250GB 850 Evo 2.5" SATA III SSD
7. Western Digital Caviar Black 1 TB SATA III 7200 RPM 64 MB Cache Internal Desktop 3.5" Hard Drive HHD
8. EVGA SuperNOVA 1200 P2 220-P2-1200-X1 80+ PLATINUM 1200W PSU
9. Thermaltake LEVEL 10 GT Super Gaming Modular Full Tower Computer Case

I am planning to build a new computer with a budget of 2,000 Dollars. I would like some advice on what I should get new and/or keep for my next build. I am looking into a Intel Devil's Canyon Core i7-4790K Haswell Refresh Quad-Core 4.0GHz LGA 1150 Desktop CPU as my cpu and work from there. I thank you in advance for any help.

You should be looking at a 6700k, not the 4790k. What resolution are you playing at? If 1080p, then this is overkill. You can reuse everything else, from your current system, to fill in the gaps.

i would get this CPU- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117559&ignorebbr=1

with this CPU cooler- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181103&ignorebbr=1( need Version two for 1151)

this mother board- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132691&ignorebbr=1

If you want a fancier mother board get this- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16813132639

This ram- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231929&cm_re=ddr4_ram-_-20-231-929-_-Product ( its ram however so if you want it to match your systems color just find some in that color)

This GPU- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125869&ignorebbr=1

Your PSU is very good, same with your SSD and HDD. the case is up to you, and that one seems good.

Total= 1,297 USD give or take depending on where you are.

if you want to save some money, get the 4790K so that you don't have to get a new CPU cooler. 4790K is a very good CPU

If that is the case, then I would go with a single GTX 1080 and get a nice 1440p monitor.
