At first I thought it was the harddrive(and it may still be) but I've come to the conclusion that it is a Windows error, why?
Windows 7 laptop - doesn't work
Windows 10 PC - doesn't work
Linux Manjaro laptop -works
Android - works

- I've also run chkdsk with /X /R /F /B.
- I've tried changing ownership

I need help, this HDD contains about 700gb of mostly important information. I have no where to backup.

Solution
If it runs under Linux/Androud, and not under Windows - there's a chance it's formatted with Linux file system.

And while you still can access this drive on Linux - make a copy, and make sure the new hard drive is formatted as NTFS.
Hi there Jonas Magnusson,

As the drive doesn't work on two different Win OSes, then I believe that this isn't some sort of a permissions related issue.

The thing is that the drive could be failing, this is why it may be a good idea to back up at least the most important data under Linux. Some OSes handle failing drives better than others.
After that, you can test it with some of these: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility

Let me know this goes,
