can a 3rd generation supported motherboard (ASrock h77m) be compatible with a 4th generation graphics card (RX 460) ?

In general, is the ASrock h77m mother board compatible with RX 460 graphics card ?

Solution
Yes, they're compatible or should be. It's more about pcie versions and they're backwards compatible so even if it had a pcie v2.0 slot a pcie 3.0 gpu would work, it would just run at 2.0 speeds on the data path. That board has a pcie 3.0 slot though, don't see why it wouldn't work.

3rd and 4th generation what?

H77 was released with Intel's 3xxx Core CPUs, but if anything it's more like 10th+ generation - Intel has been making chipsets for a very long time. The RX460 is based on a die shrink of GCN 1.2, but it contains no difference in features, so it's tough to say what generation it might be, and generation relative to what?

Regardless, it should work.
