My first build: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/kirin12090/saved/ZZXBD3

Built in July of last year with little to no issues since the first boot up.

I was playing WoW, had vent and some internet tabs open when the system suddenly went black. The hum of the fans had stopped, the monitor went black and reported that it had lost its connection to the tower. At first I thought it might be a power outage, they happen on occasion here but quickly realized that the modem/router beside me were still on. When I stood to look at the system I noticed that the light for my GPU was still on but the fans had stopped.

From there I attempted to shut it down via the power button to no avail, and finally switched off the PSU, after a half-second delay the system finally went dark. Hoping it was a fluke I attempted to restart after switching the PSU back on. Once again the light on the GPU came on but no fans and nothing on the monitor. If the BIOs beeped I don't remember hearing it.

Unhooked the system, took it in back for a proper blow out as I had no idea where to start troubleshooting. The GPU is in such a position that it is difficult to clean with canned air, so I removed it completely and cleaned it. After putting it back together and hooking it back up the computer booted properly.

I thought maybe it was heating problem and watched the system closely with Afterburner for 2 days with no issues. Then this morning I went to turn it on and again it failed to do so.
This time I noted the state of the tower more closely. The leds on the front and on the GPU come on, the PSU fan runs, the hard drive spins up, the motherboard posts (or at least plays the beep).
But
No other fans spin and no response from the monitor. Only switching the power off at the PSU can turn the system back off.

After two attempts I unhooked the tower again, opened it up, made sure all the electrical connections were properly seated, then hooked it back up and booted with no issues.

My inexperienced guess is that something electrical is going on, and either by fiddling around inside the case, or unplugging the main power I am, inadvertently (if temporarily), fixing the problem.

Thank you in advance for any responses. I am well within warranty for all my parts and replacement is not an issue.

Solution
First two things to test, power supply and video card. Try a different video card with the same power draw in your system, try your card in another system. If that passes, do same with the PSU.
