Hi,

I plan to make a build around the cheap but powerfull Intel Xeon E5640.
It is an LGA 1366 so it will work with consumer grade X58 motherboard.

Those motherboards are expensive compared to the price of that CPU.

I came across those unbranded Intel X58 LGA 1366 motherboards on eBay for around 90$.

Intel X58 LGA 1366.

I don't know those boards but do you think they will be working with all LGA 1366 Xeon? Or there is a reason for them to be cheap?

Thank you guys :)

Some of the best board that was I know first hand for its durability and quite resilient for OC purposes are ASUS P6T and DFI Lanparty T3eH8.

I've came across some from Gigabyte. I've encounter at least 3 iirc having the very same problem; cold boot.
MSI had some issue on its automated settings for XMP profile, can't recall which.
Any other brands than those then I have no idea. Others might have some more input on this matter.

Just to share some thoughts.
