I had a GA-78LMT-USB3 motherboard,

and switched it to a GA-970A-DS3P

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=...

and I have noticed that recently the FPS in games has really gone down. For instance, before, I could run overwatch with a very stable 70 fps, but now im lucky to get an inconsistent 55, usually going down to 40.

I read on a couple of other posts with this issue that it may be due to the fact that my motherboard cannot supply enough wattage to the CPU. I have AMD FX-8350 but after researching it, I found a result saying that it was fine on this motherboard.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled drivers numerous times now, but the drivers haven't changed anything.

I have an AMD R7 370, and 8 gb ram at 1333 MHz.

Thanks for reading.

How much power wattage of SMPS you are using?

Since before it was 760G chipset and now you switched to 970 chipset which requires more power.

Also if we are comparing for fps then as much high wattage SMPS you use you will get more fps.

As popatim said install fresh Windows if you haven't and all the latest drivers(especially chipset) from website
