Understood. You can google "windows 7 ultimate product key" and find multiple grey-market services willing to take your money and they will give you a license/product key in exchange. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANY OF THESES SERVICES. The may work for a while, or it may not. Many have been burned by these inexpensive sources.

Win 10 is superior to Win 7 in nearly every way and I have no problem recommending it over Win 7.

Its is for my bosses computer. He has 7 ultimate on it. when windows 10 tried to install itself, he then got the "this copy of windows is not geniune" error. He doesn't want windows 10, he wants 7. But we don't want to have to wipe the computer to install a copy of windows. He would rather keep the os he has on there. No way to do that without a legit key.

Maybe eBay, Amazon, Newegg and other retailers do not carry Win 7 Ultimate media and licenses anymore. Any seller outside of the major stores may be selling an already used key that won't activate, or will activate but then start to give errors about an invalid copy in a few weeks. If the copy of Windows he had was a legal copy, contact MS and ask them what is going on with the activation.
