Do I really need to update Bios?

Hi All,

I just completed my first build, and thankfully (knocks on wood) everything has been working great. Successful post, excellent temperatures, and all hardware working without failure.

As I was initially setting up things in the UEFI, I was confused as to if I should update the bios? I have read that if there is no real legitimate reason to do so, don't do it. So, I didn't do it. My mobo is the Maximus Formula VIII and the Bios it's running is recent (May 2016). There is a new bios available that was released in July 2016.

Any thoughts? Everything is working fine, no crashes or anything, so should I even bother trying to update?

Then I would just leave it.

BIOS updates typically add new hardware support or bug fixes, if you have no issues then leave it as there is always a risk of something going wrong on bios update (granted nowadays most all motherboards have a backup BIOS chip so it is not like you will brick your motherboard like you could in the past)
