One SSD for two PCs

I have a pretty powerful system right now at home. Problem is, it's big. It's in a NZXT H440, and if I want to go to a friend, it's a big hassle. So, I've decided to try this; I already have an SSD in my system. What if I build a mini-itx build, and to save ~$140, use the SSD I have instead of buying a new one? I already have everything on it, Windows, Games. There would be no need to redownload everything and buy Windows. Question is; what would happen? Would Windows detect a new motherboard etc. and lock down, or what? Can I do this? I don't want Windows doing something stupid and screwing my main PC up, or the itx one for that matter.
Thanks for your input!

The principal problem you (or your friend) would have is activating the OS due to the new motherboard. I'm assuming the current Windows OS is an OEM ("System Builder") version and not a "full" version. That being the case the OS is "tied" to the original motherboard.

As to whether the new system will boot to the SSD is problematic. Maybe it will, maybe it won't. You can't tell until you've tried it.

So it's the licensing of the new system that would be the problem.
