Hey everyone,

To begin with I'd like to say i don't know a whole lot about hardware and how things work.
I've been having this problem these past few months (only happens during hotter months, it was perfectly fine in winter).

I mainly use my PC to play games and lately during some, it keeps turning off.
Here are my specs:

CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core
Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
RAM: 2 x Kingston Hyper X 4GB DDR3 1600MHZ & 1 x Kingston Hyper X 8GB DDR3 1600MHZ
Graphics Card: Asus Radeon R7 260X
PSU: MS-Tech MS-N750-VAL | 750 Watt ATX
Water Cooling: Corsair Hydro Series H75

I bought the water cooling after realizing how loud the stock cooler was and also reading it was shit. I had a friend install it for me instead of the store where I got it from and it appeared to be ok. It definitely was a lot more silent but I would have this temperature problem much too ofter.

Usually happens when I play games like CS:Go, Evolve and mostly Dead by Daylight lately. It rarely happens when I play League of Legends. Also, happens a lot when I watch streams on twitch for some reason.

I figured perhaps there was something wrong with the cooling installation so I took it to the store and had it looked at and supposedly fixed. They told me they'd renew the thermal paste and change water for the liquid cooler and everything seemed to be okay.

But, sadly, it keeps happening again and again. The temperatures go as high as 70°C whereas 60°C is usually around the normal temperature when I'm using it (which I'm aware is anything but normal).

Is there anything I can do to fix it? Maybe upgrade any components?

Anything will help, thanks in advance!

I highly doubt they "fixed" your water cooler. It's not a custom loop but a closed AIO solution. They are not supposed to be opened. I bet they only replaced the thermal paste and that was it. Using that cooler you should have between 35 on idle and 45°C on light loads, and it should keep under 65° when on load. There's definitely something wrong with it. It could be that the pump is not working at all and the liquid doesn't move. I'd say you try another cooler, hell, even the stock cooler could do better than that inside a decent case with enough airflow. I have the same CPU and I'm aware that they run hot, but that's too much. If you don't have a way to test this with another cooler, just ask for a refund or a replacement, it's not...

Also, you might want to look for a larger model as the radiator on the H75 is not that big and thus, requires a higher fan rpm to be cooled enough, which would not make sense as you wanted it to be quieter.

Thank you for that, it makes sense, as I also believed they didn't bother with the cooler.
Is there a particular one you would recommend for this CPU?

Well, it really depends on where you live. I'm in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and the temperatures are hell. I use a Corsair H110i GT, it's a 280mm radiator. But you should be fine with a 120mm as long as it's a little bit thicker. I had it with an Antec Khüler 920 for a few years and it worked just fine until it had a leak, but that was definitely larger than your H75. The H80i v2 is very nice but for what it costs, I would just go ahead and get a 240mm model instead. There's not much to think about it, as long as it works, most of them do their job right.

Alright, I'll look into it, I'll try to invest a little extra to get a 240mm model like you suggested.
Thanks again!
