CMOS reset everytime I boot up

I upgraded my pc the day before yesterday.Bought MSI B150m MORTAR motherboard. But whenever I boot up the CMOS gets reset everytime. I then manually have to select my boot drive from bios and then it starts.... Please help

But i just bought the motherboard the day before yesterday.... Are you certain that the battery is creating the problem :/?

It could if the battery sat in a warehouse for a couple of years before it made it onto the motherboard.

Also there might be a problem with your Powersupply... The powersupply should be providing phantom power to the motherboard to keep the clock and bios powered. If your computer is on a lightswitch circuit you should change that.

I had a fx 8350 and GTX 970 running well with the powersupply i have.... I dont think that the power supply is an issue

Will changing the battery void the warranty of the motherboard?

No way, the battery is considered user-serviceable as long as it's installed in a socket :)

It would still take years for the battery to fail. Back in the 80s and 90s, we had AT power supplies that didn't supply any current at all when the machine was off, and the batteries still lasted for years.
