Cannot increase Core voltage on H 7770 Ghz Edition - MSI Afterburner

So i'm just getting into overclocking my GPU for the first time.

The GPU is a Sapphire HD 7770 Ghz Edition and the program i'm attempting to use is MSI Afterburner. (The latest version: 4.2.0)

I watched JayZTwoCents video on how to overclock using MSI Afterburner but i've already fallen at the first hurdle. His Video

As per the video, I unlocked Voltage control then restarted MSI Afterburner (I even restarted my PC too, when I found out it hadn't worked)

However the Core Voltage slider is completely greyed out with an empty box next to it with no number inside.

Furhermore in the video he shows a way to change it so that they card has a temprature limit of 91 Degrees celsius. This is a dropdown menu under "power Limit %" on the video however there is no dropdown menu on mine.

Any Ideas?

The HD 6870 uses the Barts VLIW5 GPU IIRC is before AMD had software power limit for GPU, I don't think that came till the Cayman VLIW4 GPU which was used in the 6950 6970 and 6990. It may well be the same for the temp limit. I did look up your Sapphire HD 7770 Ghz card and it does seem to be voltage locked by most of the BIOS (3rd party ones may get around it). I would just get the most OCing out of it without voltage and call it good.

So I found 4.1.1 on Guru3D however it looked nothing like his (my 4.2.0 looked the same as his) and this didn't allow me to increase the voltage nor did it allow me to do the temperature limits.

Could it be down to the GPU i'm using?

Yes there are some cards that have locked voltage and this may well be one of them.

Yeah I changed out to a HIS HD 6870 and that allows me to change the Core voltage, however weirdly, that doesn't allow me to set a power limit or temperature limit at all (both are greyed out).

THank you very much for all your help mate.

I own a GTX 760 as my main card, these are all my old cards, and I just wanted to give it a shot before I try with the GTX 760.

The 6870 OCed really well with absolutely no voltage increase. Went from 900 to 1000 Core Clock, and the memory went from 1000 to 1100.

Although I would need to let it bench for a long tim to see if they're 100% stab;e, they seemed stable enough over 10 minutes.
