Trying to figure out if my PSU is busted?

Hi, I've got a Solid Gear SDGR-650E that came with a bare-bones kit I bought off of Tiger Direct almost exactly two years ago and I can't seem to figure out if the problem I've been having the past 24 hours is my power supply or something else in the computer.

Yesterday night I had my computer on while hanging out with a friend and it just suddenly shut off, no shut-down or closing anything just suddenly off.

I left it off for the night, cleaned out any dust inside and turned it on this morning and everything seemed fine, until it shut off suddenly again about 2 hours ago.

I looked up some info and did the 'green-wire' test once I separated it from the rest of the computer and It worked once, but if I try to do it again it doesn't do anything.
Is the power supply actually dead or is it something else wrong with my system?

(Also, sorry if this has already been answered. I did a few quick searches here, but I wasn't sure if it working once and then not again might warrant a different answer??)

Ideally I'd love to, but I don't know anyone who would lend me one.

Oh, I just ordered a SDGR-750E which had better ratings than the 650E. Is there a brand you'd recommend that would probably work with my system?

I've got this processor: https://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4904561
This Motherboard: https://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=667675
This graphics card: https://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8521747
This HDD: https://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8573371
And two of these RAM sticks: https://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8033818

I'm looking at an EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G1 on Amazon, would that work with my system? : https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K85X2AW/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza

You do realize the 750W one is probably exactly the same as the 650W one but just with a different number on it, right?

Those things are absolute garbage. You are just another victim to those who think of labelled wattage as something of value, unfortunately. :(

Also never ever ever ever ever look at Amazon or Newegg reviews for power supplies. Ever.

Unfortunately I didn't know but I already got the 750E order canceled. So that's taken care of.
Is TigerDirect the better place to order them from or should I be looking somewhere else?

It doesn't really matter where you order a power supply as long as it's a good one. Newegg has good prices usually. If you tell me your budget and specs I'd be happy to assist with options.

The links to the items pages are above, but here's the basic parts.
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AMD 9 Series Motherboard
Processor: AMD FX-8350 Processor - 8 Core, 4Ghz
Video: PNY Geforce 770 2GB DDR5
and two Ram sticks: Patriot Viper Xtreme 8GB Desktop Memory Module - DDR3

I can probably go up to about $120 including shipping, but I need to make sure I'll get it before Friday (College semester's going to be starting so I have to move)

And thanks a ton for all the help everyone. This was the first computer I've ever built, so this is all pretty new to me!

Currently taking a look at them. Thinking of going with the Evga SuperNova GS but I can't really tell the differences too much.

That was the the one I ended up going for. Hopefully my other order with T.D. was fast enough to stop the shipment. Thanks for all the help!
