I bought a Fury X on craiglist a month ago. Guy said he bought it off ebay from a parts reviewer.
Card runs at 51C max running Doom.
It has a pump whine. My case is pretty open, and the sound of the pump bothers me.
I watched this video "Amd FURY X pump easy fix" on youtube. The video just shows a quiet card. In the description, he writes "Cut the red wire that goes to pump. Put 6 ohm 3w rezistor (the rezistor will drop voltage from 12v to 10.6v."
I don't know much about ohms or volts. Is adding a resistor a terrible idea or a good idea?
If it is a good idea, how do I go about doing it?
