When I boot up my new pc it will only show a black screen. I need help! Please

Ok first off I'm new to pc building and I decided to go ahead and get started and build my own. I just finished building it today and I only am able to connect to a TV for my pc so I use a HDMI cable. And there is one on the graphics card and one on the motherboard... I don't know which one to connect it to. I start the pc and press f11 as the motherboard manual says to "run the boot menu" and all it shows is a black screen for like 5 sec. And then goes away..

If you install a videocard plug it into that

Well when I plug it into the video card nothing shows up when I press f11 it just stays at the normal TV screen

And whats F11? If the tv is on the right input it may work

You press f11 to run the boot menu. A black screen shows up when I press it and it is on the right input forsure. I plugged my it into my xbox and it showed up just fine on the same input.

It wont boot unless you installed windows on the hdd

The Xbox may have to be on for the screen to come on. If you're plugging the HDMI into HDMI in on an Xbox 1

I appreciate your response and help. I was planning on installing windows using a USB so it isn't on the hdd yet. Do you need the usb plugged in and it will boot thru that?..

Update: just tried it with USB plugged in and it didn't work..

No the USB should have the install files on it. Then you boot from it to install windows

So if you plugged it into an xbox did you get a signal or not? If you didn't plug it into the monitor

Whatever you installed if it needs power did you connect power to it

Right OK. If you didnt remove the HDMI cable the xbox was plugged into did you change the input the computer is plugged into on the TV?

So you get a signal?

Yeah there was signal it was just a black screen. I figured out the problem though. I have the RAM in the wrong slots. :/
