Basically I want to build gaming pc with gtx 1060, i7-6700k etc. Ive read about upcoming games will run in dx12 where the AMD will beat nvidia and also Ive heard about the Pascal technology that will basically run multiple times faster.

My questions are:
1. Should I just build my pc now or wait.
2. Should I go for nvidia or amd, particularly gtx 1060 or rx 480.

Thanks :p

Please don't pay any attention to cpuboss. That site is a joke.

Just like the i7 6700k vs the i7 6700, the i5 6600k does not come with a cpu cooler so you would need to spend MORE money to get a cooler. That 20 euro difference turns into 40 euro really quick.

The best bang for buck is an i5 6500 or 6600 or an i7 6700 on a B150 or H170 motherboard.

I'd go i5-6600(K) + gtx 1060 6GB, it should provide the best price/perf out of the nominated ones. On graphics though it could depend on what you are going to play on that, but in general gtx 1060 wins against rx 480.

oh ok, my bad. The 6700 K version is only 26 euros more expensive than non- K edition..

And forces you to spend even more for a cooler. And you need to spend even more for a Z170 motherboard to be able to overclock it.

You see a theme here? Spend more more more... it's not worth it at all not even a little bit.

And that's why I recommend the i5 6500 or i7 6700. You can stick them in a $50 motherboard and use the stock cooler. Of course I don't recommend the absolute cheapest motherboard... get at least a B150 or H170.

Ok, so unless I overclock I dont want K edition. Im not planning on overclocking anyways. Also , would you say that a more expensive motherboard is worth it in the long run? Also I'm gonna buy ripjaws ram 3200 mhz, will that be compatible with the motherboards you wrote?

PS PS. isnt MSI Z170A Gaming Pro motherboard much better than both of those you wrote?

ok, is it normal for 16 gb ram to cost same as the motherboards you provided?

ok then because I found ripjaws 2x8 gb 3200 mhz ram for the same price as the motherboard.

Btw, Im rly stuck between choosing i5-6600k and i7-6700.
Mainly because the 6600k is showing better results on cpuboss.com and the price difference is minimal. Even if I dont overclock the K 6600 its still better than the non-k version. And for 20 euro price difference ...

That's nearly $100 euros more. That 100 euro saved could go towards a more important part like getting a better video card, or adding a 250GB ssd.

In case I wasn't clear enough earlier. The "K" model i5 and i7 do not come with a stock cooler. The non "K' models do.

Thank you very much for the detailed explanation. I decided to get i5-6600 with b150 gaming m3.
The only thing I'm not so sure about is the gtx 1060. After watching benchmarks on youtube I saw that the gtx 1060 can't even reach 60 fps on ultra on witcher 3. The gtx 1070 on the other hand is twice the price of the 1060 but is also around 40 % better in all aspects..

Now I'm really stuck about what to do. Wait for the 1070 to go down in price or just get the 1060.

I saw benchmarks on several youtube channels with live fps measurement and the 1070was 30-40 % better than the 1060 in average overall. So I wonder if I just should save the money and get the 1070.
