I have a laptop: Aspire V 15 V3-572G-70PU.

Yesterday I tried to turn it on, but a blue screen appeared saying that a component of the operating system has expired.

I have a bootable DVD with Windows 8, but unless I set the Boot Mode to Legacy (instead of UEFI), it doesn't boot from the DVD.

I googled this issue, found some fixes, but none of the worked for me. Also I didn't quite understand what was the problem that caused that screen to appear. Here's a list of things I tried:

- I found a video in youtube that suggested checking the date in the BIOS. Mine is fine.

- I booted the DVD disc while in Legacy and opened command prompt and used things like chkdsk and others. That should have fixed any errors (though one of the commands, as the article said, should have shown if errors were found), on every command I executed it said that all was good. (http://www.digitalcitizen.life/command-prompt-fix-issues-your-boot-records)
Though, I'm completely ignorant on this topic I read a bit more and found out that there's a MBR vs GPT "things". As far as I understood MBR is for Legacy and GPT is for UEFI, so probably the above commands didn't do anything for my computer.

- Next thing I tried is trying to execute the "Refresh PC" option from the bootable DVD. However I get the message that " The drive where Windows is installed is locked. Unlock the drive and try again.". I have no idea what "lock" means in this context, so I googled and stubled upon the following answer: http://superuser.com/a/808966/199959. Tried doing the stuff listed there, with no avail.

So basically I'm stuck with a laptop and a problem I don't know how to solve and don't understand.
Any help is appreciated!

When I'm in UEFI, the DVD won't boot.

Okay, but is it a problem to install windows in Legacy mode?

And what is the actual problem? I can't seem to understand it. Also what can I do to prevent it?

Edit: First of all, it turns out it was a PC with Windows 10 (not Windows 8). So I went in BIOS and changed the date to a previous (when the PC was working) and was able to start the windows. Now, I'm going to try to upgrade/update it so that won't happen again.
