My tablet has a green charging light but it won't charge more than 13%.
I have it plugged in right now but there is no lightning on the battery icon. The tablet is a ViewSonic Malata SMBA1002 with Android 4.1.2.

Yesterday or the day before, I left my tablet in my backpack too long and it wouldn't turn on for two days. Before that happened, it was at about 50%. Do you think I accidentally decreased the battery capacity by leaving it unplugged for too long?

Have you tried 'Resetting the battery'? Which is where you let it drain until it die, and turn it on twice and then charge it up to full, let it drain and then charge it again. I believe it's something like that process.

But lets go simpler, have you tried restarting the battery?

If not, is the tablet still in warranty? Because contacting the manufacturers is probably a good move if it is.

Yeah, oh well haha.

Is your tablet still in warranty, I would suggest sending it back to get it fixed, as they will replace the battery, and because they can't argue against you saying that it was your fault, they basically have no choice (Only in warranty)

Funny enough, I recently had to do this with my Acer Iconia Tab 10, only had it for 5 months...

@xFeaRDom, I haven't tried resetting the battery. I've only drained the battery once and that was by accident.

By restarting the battery do you mean taking the battery out and putting it back in? I know that works when a smartphone won't turn on. No, I haven't tried that since I don't know how to get the battery out, but I see four small circles on the back of the tablet so the screws are probably under those circles, I think.

To answer your other question, it probably isn't under warranty because the kernel version (2.6.39.4) is from 2012. If it has a 5 year warranty it which case it would still be under warranty. But I'd have to ask my brother since I got the tablet from him. The tablet worked when my brother showed it to me, but in I brought it home for the first time, it wouldn't turn on.A week later, my brother came over and got it to turn on.

Oh by the way, I've been typing these posts on the tablet I am posting about. My brother mentioned that the dents on the corner mean the tablet was dropped on concrete but that was before I got the tablet.
