I want to build a good gaming pc that will run upcoming dx12 games like battlefield 1 etc.
Feel free to let me know what components I should modify.

Here is my build:

CPU: Intel Core i5-6600 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor

Motherboard: MSI B150 Gaming M3 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

Storage: OCZ TRION 150 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 1060 6GB Turbo Video Card

Power Supply: EVGA 650W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer

Solution

For Ultra settings you will most likely need a GTX 1070, a GTX 1060 overall, is probably better than a GTX 980, but it runs slower. You may be able to have some settings at ultra, but not all of them, as it is (Compared to the GTX 1070/1080) basically just a GTX 980. The 1060 has a lower Clock Speed than the 1070, less memory and a lower TFLOP (Search it up if you don't understand it, but basically processes I believe), therefore making it a 'Weaker' card, even though it is still really powerful.

We cannot say for sure if you cannot run at...

This setup should run dx12 games, might not always be on maximum settings, but it will be at least medium-high settings.

The 6600 is a powerful processor, and with it being an i5, you're not wasting your money on an i7 for gaming, when it isn't needed, so that is a good choice. I'll ignore the rest because they're good, including the PSU which is a great PSU.

The GPU, is similar to a GTX 980, I believe a little bit worse, which can run games on high/maximum settings, so that isn't an issue.

You should be good! :)

Thanks guys. Both of you said it will most likely run medium-high instead ultra, is there a reason for that? My goal is to build a rig that can for sure run battlefield 1 at ultra settings.

The i5 would be powerful enough but the 1060 lacks some perfomance to get to ultra settings
If you went with a 1070, ultra would be more realistic

oh ok. Also one last thing. Ive read alot about the amd rx 480 and the dx12 games and how the amd will be much better in perfomance against nvidia in dx12 games. As the upcoming games are gonna be dx12 like battlefield 1, wouldnt it be better to go with amd rx 480 to secure the future gaming?

The RX 480 will have a higher power consumption, although it is only a little bit cheaper, and may claim they will be better in performance in dx12, there are articles out there (Staged or not) and a lot of them claim the cards to be similar, but the 1060 being a bit better.

btw, I just saw benchmarks on youtube gtx 1060 vs 1070 and I think I might just wait for the 1070 to go down in price. The difference between 1060 and 1070 is just huge. And the 1060 doesnt even get 60 fps stable in games like witcher 3 on ultra.

That was going to be another suggestion from me, the GTX 1070 is only about $100 extra (Probably 130-ish depending on what you get) and the extra bit of money is definitely worth it!

Yeah.. so, I guess ill just wait couple of months till the prices on 1070 go down. Do you have any clue on when they might drop in price?

Yeah probably.

With the discounts on boxing day and things, probably around that time. It might decrease at the beginning of december, just keep an eye on the prices.
