Hi, people!
I have i5-4460 with stock cooler and thinking of getting 4790K, because box is almost 20% more expensive
Can I use the old cooler?

Thank you

Solution
I believe it will work as it is the same socket type.

But doesn't the 4790K come with a stock cooler? If not then my bad, but I believe it may come with one.

I wouldn't get a 4790K if you don't plan on overclocking, in which case you'll need an aftermarket cooler anyhow. I would go with a regular 4790.

And if you're planning on just gaming, then the 4790(K) is overkill, for pure gaming you'll need an i5, such as a 4690. But for video editing, go with the i7.

Not gaming, big financial data calculations
Thanks, 4790 is surely the way to go

4790 at stock is clocked at 3.6
The 4790K at stock is clocked at 4.0
A "K" cpu is designed to be clocked higher than stock. How high, Intel can't guarantee.
One is leaving some 10-20% performance by not doing so.

Either comes with an adequate if noisy cooler.
