Hello, i have the following set up:

Ga-970A-DS3P Motherboard
FX 8320e (factory clock speeds)
Radeon R9 270
400GB SSD Running windows 10

Just bought a gtx 1060 from amazon... it should arrive tomorrow. Will my CPU bottleneck the 1060 on games like xcom2, FarCry Primal, Metal Gear Solid V ???? (1080p gaming)

If so, what would be the best value Intel CPU option to avoid bottleneck??

Solution
Yes theres a bottleneck, but it should hardly cause playability issues, you will be fine.

As for changing your CPU, you need a new motherboard as well, theres no cheap way around that.

I understand that i have to change motherboards as well... still what would be a good cpu value pick?? ( I am not very familiar with intel cpu line up, and frankly I find it a little complicated to understand the heriarchy)

i5-6600k is a sure bet with that GPU. Its $20 more than the locked versions, which to me is worth it just to have the overclocking option available should I ever want to (just like you FX-8320E has). A new Skylake system will need DDR4 memory too.

Ok, it seems like that will be my planned upgrade for 2107 then.

As of right now, i got my 1060 and it seems to run fine. 53 - 65 fps on FarCry Primal with GPU at 92% - 99% (ultra settings - 1080p). So as you guys said, some cpu bottleneck but still a very good gaming experience. I will stick with this for a year or so and start working on upgrading next summer (y)
