As a rep, I can't really recommend you a specific partition/data recovery tool.

My suggestion would be to wait and see if you will be able to recover the partition with the tool that is currently running. In case this does not work, I would advise you to scan it with a data recovery tool and save all the recovered data on another drive. That way, you will minimize the risk of overwriting your data in some way.

Hi there chiedozie,

When in diskpart, you can see if there are any other partition.
Another thing that would help us a lot, would be a screenshot of your Disk Management. You can upload the screenshot to an image hosting website and post the link.
See if there is any unallocated space.

Trying something simple as just using another cable as well as attaching the drive to a different system will help us to narrow down the cause.

Do you have data stored on the drive? You may need to use some partition recovery tool in order to retrieve it.

Let me know how this goes,

So you had three different partitions on that drive right? It's strange indeed.

Have you tried to access the external drive with some data recovery tool. As you have some data stored on the drive, you can do so. There are many threads on that in the forum.
Also, you can test the drive afterwards: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility

You can even see whether the drive appears the same way under another OS. You can grab a USB flash drive or a CD, boot Ubuntu (don't install it) and see whether the drive appears the same way. Thread on the Ubuntu Live CD approach: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/267999-32-recover-data-mode
