Probably a dumb question but here goes..
Ok so i got this new build ordered and everything is coming tomorrow.
Thing is the memories and the psu are gonna be delayed for 1-2 weeks.
Question is can i put some random compatible memos and psu to get things started until the new ones arrive or this is generally a bad thing to do?
System specs
i7 6700k
MSI GTX 1070
G.skill Ripjaws V series 3200/Delayed
Evga Supernova 650W G2 PSU/Delayed
Samsung 250GB 850 EVO Series

Solution
if you have a local computer store that lets you returned used parts like micro center within 30 days. swapping ram stick is fine. there only a few ram makers todays and most ram stick use one of these vendors. today ram your paying for the heat sink and name. on power supply dont buy a 30 unit. most of these will pop under gaming load and take your rig out. myself i dont like to take rig apper unless there a failure. less chance of breaking another part. with power supply you need to be care full of where non tye wrap wires sit..fall into fans.
Sure, power supplies are completely interchangeable, and for the most part so is RAM within the same family.

Just avoid using an old/crap brand power supply to power a brand-new system; it is just not worth the risk.

But as long as you have the parts around to do this without spending any extra money, it should not be a problem.

Yes, it's definitely worth considering that swapping out the power supply is a PAIN IN THE ASS, probably second only to changing motherboards. It's no fun disconnecting and reconnecting a half-dozen cables, then figuring out somewhere to jam the extra ones.
